Camera zoom recommendations for distant bovine subjects

A stable wide shot with waterline context is usually better than a shaky zoom crop.

If you capture both, submit both. If you only capture the crop, write down where the waterline was in relation to the animal. If your phone did the weird smoothing thing, say that too. We can see it anyway.

Digital zoom is how confidence goes to die. Take the wide shot first, then zoom if you must commit crimes.

Tripod, fence post, car hood, whatever. Stabilize the phone. Nobody wants another haunted watercolor cow.
