Working model: assumed barriers may matter more to observers than to the subject.

Fence, slope, waterline, maintenance path, old cattle trail, call it what you want. We keep finding cases where the human says 'that should have stopped it' and the cow clearly did not receive the memo.

This is why route notes belong in the template, not in somebody's sixth reply after everyone is tired.

Please add 'assumed barrier' as a checkbox someday. Half these cases are just the cow disagreeing with a human assumption.

Old cattle trails explain more than people want to admit. Water follows low paths. Cows follow old paths. Sometimes that meets in the dumbest possible spot.
