Not claiming anything yet. I found family VHS from 1998, county fair picnic, terrible audio, worse camera work. like, truly awful camera work.

At 12:41 there is a cow behind the picnic shelter standing at what looks like the edge of a flooded low spot. It is not the subject of the video. Nobody reacts. It is just there, half in frame, doing that calm thing people here keep noticing.

I can digitize a better clip if this is useful for historical examples. If it is just mud and nostalgia, fine, but I wanted eyes on it before the tape gets worse. The tape already sounds haunted.

tracking error is not evidence, but it is history

Digitize it if you can do it without cooking the tape. Background animals are useful because nobody staged the cow for us. Sometimes bad footage has good context, annoyingly.

Please include a frame before and after the cow if you post it. The lead-in may show whether the water was a ditch, pond edge, or just tape noise pretending to be a shoreline. VHS lies in creative ways.

If you can, capture the audio too. Sometimes background comments are the only timestamp we get. Also because I want to hear somebody's uncle ignore history in real time.
